This really takes me far too long, but boy is it fun!
Thinking of a carrier, green waistband and bottom, leading up to a blue sky at the top....cute owl in a tree....

And another, muted green checks with butterflys fluttering by....

My zig-zag machine at the moment is a friends old janome on loan. Sounds like a freight train when I push the pedal, and steers like a mac truck. But Im gratefull for the loan! Major creative urge at the moment.
On the duller side, working on instruction booklet etc. Need better computer skills! Anyhow, coming soon.
Hope you had a great weekend, we sure did!
Just going to pop in this link to '5 minute a day bread' ....going to try make it tomorrow. You can leave the dough in the fridge for 14 days, and make a little loaf each day from it (in 5 mins, +oven cooking time of course) . Brilliant idea! Will let you know how it goes.
Hoping to save a fortune in bread!

Tommy's Baby 04/17/2010

Yes, my little boy has a doll. He has 3 in fact (small baby, big baby and big big baby). I love that he hasn't hit the age 'boys do this, girls do that' yet. And I love that he 'looks after' them. Does that loving and caring attitude translate into real life? They are only plasic after all. Anyway.
Here he is taking baby for a walk an a little sling we whipped up that afternoon.
I noticed he was talking over his shoulder to baby...and realised, of course, thats what I've always done to him! LOL
PS yes, hes about to head out in the wet and drizzle, barefoot. Where's my cotton wool? Hmmmm.

Listed the other day in my shop on etsy.
Cotton drill in stripes....more coming...so much fun to make!
Any ideas for colour combos? Im working on a navy & jade, surprisingly nice.
I need to get some basic stock in prints made, just can't stop my more creative projests!

The sewing machine is no longer located in the lounge room....which is great, I have my own space, but also sad, because I have given up my day dream of creating beautifull things with a beautifull little boy playing neerby.
Reality check: Noisy boy, playing WITH ME while I try to sew, pulling on fabric ('helping mama') with vegemite toast in the other hand.
Oh well.
Perhapse I can sneak off to the new sewing room for 10 mins here and there and get a bit done? Is that another day dream?
Some pics....messy pinboard, but thats the way my mind works.

New Burda! Going to sit down with a coffee and read cover to cover, plan all the things I want to make, then go sew carriers instead

Picture
Munchkin is at nona's this morn, I'm going to have a morn off, go to Amitie (AMAZING patchworking and craft store) and buy mixtape mag, which i plan on reading at a lil' cafe over coffee.
Heaven.
After all, I'm only in the carrier making biz to buy the fabrics, you know ;-)

OK, so I've had great feedback on the soft, squishy, heavenly straps....but, the perfectionist I am i've been trying to come up with a way to prevent 'strap squish' when using a chest belt.
Yes, I know it isn't that big of a deal, but when I set my mind to it, it must be done!
Fast foreward a few months, and this is trial no. #18-
Picture
They were nice, did the job while still being able to stretch strait for x-back front carries....but a little too stiff, so you can feel it underarm when reaching foreward to get something.

Picture
Which brings us to attempt #19....
I LOVE these straps! Definate keepers....the straps feel just like before, but less strap squish means softer curve and therefore furthur away from underarm...Yay!
Have promised Stevie to stop fluffing with my design for a bit, hes tired of coming home from work and being wrapped in straps and being told "now pull the strap down at the front and stand still" Poor guy.
PS all new stock added to my shop + customs will have the new straps.

Picture
I always end up with lots of 10cm peices of cotton drill left over...what to do?

Picture
Make a carrier of course! This lovely model will be in my etsy store soon.....

Picture
Experimenting with print cotton over the drill, which means fun things like spot straps! What do you think?

Well, make a big ole' mess anyhow. One of the benefits of wearing them in the kitchen when you cook when they are little? Later they seem to think they know how too...through osmosis perhaps? Oh well, its all fun....

Hope it gets a lot of love!!

They have a lovely online forum for Aussie babywearers over there, I wish I could join in more but I'm terrible at that sort of thing...If I want to get these carriers made, need to spend my time sewing, so online time restrictions currently apply! LOL.

Speeking of which, must get back to work, this is a one wahm show....
