Knot really a baby sling.... 03/30/2011
Just a quick example of babywearing with anything, anywhere...this is the scarf that matched my outfit, just tied around like a pouch to make an easy pop-in sling. The next time you see a mum out and struggling with a pram, baby in one arm and a pashmina on, you know what to do LOL. Just a quick note, safety first of course, this scarf is a thick jaquard weave, and that knot is tied with the ole left over right then right over left knot, so its not going anywhere... Finally got a sleep bag made for lil Rosie posie, love how it turned out....might stop me waking uo to check her blankets all night long (although she is not waking, she sleeps all night! I used to think babies who did that were an urban myth. My 3yo still doesn't!) Here it is, very simple design, no pattern just winged it so hope it fits tonight! ....And some AmAZing fluffy mail from my big sis (Aunty Kat) who has been knitting up a storm in greens and rainbows...these booties stay on, despite the never ending kicking! Lil' Rosetta 02/10/2011
I'm not a huge blogger, obviously but have been very busy making the latest creation....born on Jan 11th....bit late but worth the wait! Were all in love around here... Price rise.... 11/21/2010
After much deliberation, I have decided to increase my carrier prices from $129 to $149....due to many factors, including materials price rise. I hope everyone understands! There are 10 new custom slots in store now, and the deposit is still $29 + postage, but the new balance will be invoiced upon completion of the carrier at $120. Any questions please dont hesitate to contact me... Thank you :-) Ethical Design Market 11/20/2010
I've just heard about an online 'ethical design market' called Blue Caravan from the lovely Dee of Mainichi (who designs and makes amazing jewellery and wearable art in Melbourne..her Blue Caravan store is here). In love with these boots by Bobkababy, and the handmade sandals...will need some of these, if its a girl!! Amazing work... Its an interesting road to travel, creating anything by hand for sale, the hours are long, the creative process sometimes exhausting and a bit obsessive (30+ test models of my carrier before i was happy spring to mind..poor Tom!!), and its hard to explain to someone who doesn't sew or craft just how long it takes to make a single item! But a great feeling to be doing your own thing...besides, some people NEED to create things, its not a choice. Thank goodness though, for all the free thinkers and unhomogonised 'handmakers' out there, imagine a world without them! Speaking of handmade,http://www.markitfedsquare.com.au/ is coming up this weekend in the city , can't wait to check out all goodies! Especially with christmas coming up.. Also hoping to check out any local fabric printers, looking for some nice localy made fabric prints to add to the etsy store..... Nesting, can't stop making house things!! 11/18/2010
OK, it must be a part of the 'nesting' pregnant women do (I havn't mentioned it, but #2 is due on new years eve, great timing LOL. At least there will be a celebration, and possible tipsy hospital staff but lets not think of that...) I can't stop making little 'bits' to go in the house...I'm ripping up perfectly good quilt covers to make patchwork quilts, refusing to buy birthday pressies because I NEED to make them, and the latest one, got a bit lost in time making these cushions for Tom's little chairs that dinner wasn't ready till past 8...late food, about the only thing thats unforgivable with my boys!! Anyhow, here they are in an Alexander Henry print.... Plus a couple of new custom carriers to go out Monday....the last of this echino print, sad to see it go but I think the choice with the grey straps looks great...Grey is still the most popular strap choice at the moment, good neutral.... New Prints!!Have been having fun ordering all sorts of fun prints from independent stores on etsy, some I havn't seen before, hope to get them online tonight... Updated Website, YAY!!!! 11/07/2010
Something I've been meaning to do for an age, but couldn't seem to stop sewing long enough to do it. Hopefully a bit better looking! Quite fun once you get into it, but gosh it takes a ong time!! I'd never have the patience to be a web designer..... Busy Monday... 11/07/2010
Just a few carriers completed in the lase few days, read to go.... Gosh, the sparrow fabric is getting hard to find...... ![]() Must....keep....sewing....chestraps (not my fave thing to do, not good at the admin or repetitive parts of making, oh well...) Creative time.... 04/18/2010
This really takes me far too long, but boy is it fun! Thinking of a carrier, green waistband and bottom, leading up to a blue sky at the top....cute owl in a tree.... And another, muted green checks with butterflys fluttering by.... My zig-zag machine at the moment is a friends old janome on loan. Sounds like a freight train when I push the pedal, and steers like a mac truck. But Im gratefull for the loan! Major creative urge at the moment. On the duller side, working on instruction booklet etc. Need better computer skills! Anyhow, coming soon. Hope you had a great weekend, we sure did! Just going to pop in this link to '5 minute a day bread' ....going to try make it tomorrow. You can leave the dough in the fridge for 14 days, and make a little loaf each day from it (in 5 mins, +oven cooking time of course) . Brilliant idea! Will let you know how it goes. Hoping to save a fortune in bread! | AuthorMe, Elaine! ArchivesMarch 2011 CategoriesAll Blogs I love....
